South Carolina Belt Plate (#86.34)

South Carolina Plate – Kerksis says this is a waist belt plate and is circa 1834 and after (see: pg. 412). With arrows on the back, it is Civil War. I’ve pictured front and back so you can see that the tongue and one arrow are broken off. The collector I got this from tells a fun account. Some years ago, while traveling, he and his wife bought a large jar full of buttons (she collects them) for $6.00. Days later when they got home they finally dumped them out to sort and look at them in detail. This C.S. plate came pouring out. WOW!! I wish I had gotten this at that price.
