SOLD - United Confederate Veteran’s SHAKO – The shako form is seldom encountered in U.C.V. headgear. This is quite colorful with a red body, pale blue trim and piping, and a black oil cloth crown. This is from the 5 th Virginia Infantry. Note the red “5” on the front below the U.C.V. wreath insignia. The only other one of these we’ve seen was identified to the 5 th Va. Inf. The side buttons are U.C.V.” and the chin strap is a white cording. The inside is dark brown wool felt and has a complete sweatband. There are a few minor moth holes and fabric separations. Overall it is very good and most attractive. It has charm and character.
